About Anselyn

I grew up in the northeast on Cape Cod. I have always been painfully shy to sing in front of anyone, except my dogs and cats. I think it was because of a mean girl in third grade made fun of me for singing once. One time. That is all it took. From that day on, I could not sing or perform or speak in front of large groups. I would go numb.

Sometimes we do not realize how cruel words can cut so deeply, especially with young children, affecting them throughout life.

I spent most of my life working in industries that were not especially creative. I rarely finished my songs. Most of them were in pieces. Finally, later in my life, I decided it was time to finish some songs and create my first record. I made this album with my producer Elliott Lanam at Hidden City Studios in Santa Barbara. He is a brilliant engineer, an accomplished producer, an incredible musician and is very kind and patient. Without him, I would be floundering with my music.

I am still working at overcoming my fear of singing in front of folks. And that might be the next mountain that I must climb...
